Port of the month February 2016: Niepoort Vintage Port 1942

Very few producers have bottled 1942. Niepoort did and with an astonishing result. Due to heavy restrictions in Portugal during WWII, Niepoort bottled in what was available - One Liter bottles. This is a very rare size, I have never seen with any other year or Producer. Dirks comment on this: "A one-liter-bottle of Port is a perfect format for two persons, if one does not drink". If you ever get the chance to acquire a glas - don't miss it.

Deep dark orange in colour with a small rim. Complex, structured Bouquet with malty notes, tobacco and toffee. The palate reveals toffee ,coffee, malt and honey. Long and complex aftertaste. Now on its all-time-high. Decant for at least 3-4 hours. 19
